in search of dolly: part I

trip to mcallen/rio grande valley for 10 days included clearing out my dad's house + subsequent garage sale* as well as living through june's first hurricane (dolly: dirty whore, not really). on the way down we saw this field of sunflowers that we've seen on other trips. and we stopped for the photo op. such a lovely, unexpected vision.

the beast slept for a spell thankfully

how f-in' sweet is this?

*garage sales in the valley are a far different animal than they are in austin. my mom tried to warn me. professional flea market vendors raid garage sales EARLY and pressure you into selling before you're ready. our sale was to start at 8am at 7am we had a small crowd pacing in the driveway. at 7:30am i gave in and shouted out, "vamos a empezer"! attendees RAN towards the goods and immediately started piling their chosen wares in various nooks and crannies. it was overwhelming and amazing.

Given Junie's, "Kansas Roots"...the sunflowers are pure "Home on the Range" and quite good pic's I might add.
